Leaders of EUROSAI Supreme Audit Institutions met in Prague to discuss deepening of cooperation
PRESS RELEASE ON CONFERENCE ON INCLUSIVENESS IN EUROSAI – 10 and 11 March 2026
Deepening cooperation and sharing experience among Supreme Audit Institutions affiliated with EUROSAI was the theme of a two-day conference held on Tuesday and Wednesday, 10 and 11 March 2026, at the SAO headquarters in Prague. More than 50 participants of the conference came to Prague, including members of the EUROSAI Governing Board and 12 Presidents or Vice-Presidents of EUROSAI Supreme Audit Institutions. EUROSAI President, State Comptroller and Ombudsman of Israel Matanyahu Englman was among the on-site attendees as well. Nearly 30 other participants joined the conference online.
"Before we can change the way we work together, we must first understand who we are—our strengths, limitations, weaknesses, and potential. The reason we are here today is to listen. Because cooperation is not built through documents alone, but through dialogue," said Miloslav Kala, President of the organising Supreme Audit Office of the Czech Republic (SAO), at the opening of the conference.
Participants at this two-day forum sought answers to questions such as how to cooperate within EUROSAI to achieve more effective auditing, what topics are relevant for auditing, and how to use artificial intelligence in audits. They discussed whether European auditors are able to quickly identify new challenges and then respond to them jointly. They discussed the possibilities of sharing information and knowledge. However, there were also talks of the challenges facing audit institutions in European countries which are not part of the EU. On the second day, conference participants focused on issues such as mutual internships – how to deepen them and how to contribute to the acquisition of truly meaningful experience and knowledge.
It turned out that there was broad agreement among conference participants that EUROSAI should continue with a balanced combination of online and face-to-face meetings, supplemented by cooperation on knowledge-sharing platforms such as the Czech BIEP. “I am particularly pleased that members of the EUROSAI Governing Board also took part in these discussions. They listened, reflected, and got involved. At the end of May in Rome, we will present the conclusions of the Prague conference to the EUROSAI Governing Board. Your voices will thus be heard further afield. They will help shape our future cooperation," said Miloslav Kala at the end of the meeting.
