There are two reasons for the president of the Czech Supreme Audit Office, František Dohnal, to meet his Slovak counterpart, Ján Jasovský, on May 24–25, 2007. A coordinated bilateral audit of consumer taxes is being finished by a mutual audit report release and, at the same time, the representatives are going to make a contract to do an international financial audit within environmental fields.

Dva důvody má setkání prezidenta české nejvyšší kontrolní instituce Františka Dohnala a předsedy NKÚ SR Jána Jasovského. Ve dnech 24. a 25. května ukončí na Slovensku koordinovanou kontrolu spotřebních daní podpisem společné zprávy a komuniké a zároveň podepíší dohodu o spolupráci koordinované kontroly týkající se finančních prostředků v oblasti ochrany ovzduší.
Ministry of Finance jeopardized the effectiveness of state budget expenses
The audit performed by the Supreme Audit Office (SAO) aimed at procedures of Ministry of Finance (MF) when budgeting and drawing from state budget chapter General Balance Administration (GBA). The audited period were years 2004 and 2005, including associated data from the previous time, and the audited body was MF. Auditors took the view that MF does not fulfil the duties of the chapter’s administrator.

Shortcomings in VAT administration after accession of Czech Republic to European Union
During auditing operation No. 06/27, the Czech Supreme Audit Office (SAO) aimed at VAT administration after the Czech Republic’s accession to European Union (EU), as well as legal regulations of VAT gathering and the administrative proceeding of VAT check-ups. The audit followed a similar operation, numbered 05/19 and entitled “VAT administration”, which had been performed earlier. The audit operation found out ongoing shortcomings.
The SAO representatives shared experience in Lisbon
The Supreme Audit Office (SAO) representatives led by the president, František Dohnal, took part at the 5th EUROSAI/OLACEFS conference, which was held from May 9th to 12th, 2007, in Lisbon, Portugal. The main topics of the conference were fiscal policy, bill submitting, and responsibility.

Páté konference EUROSAI/OLACEFS, která proběhla 9. - 12. května 2007 v Lisabonu se zúčastnili také zástupci Nejvyššího kontrolního úřadu v čele s prezidentem Františkem Dohnalem. Konference byla zaměřena na téma fiskální udržitelnosti, předkládání účtů a zodpovědnosti.
Ambassadors from EU countries concerned in the Czech Supreme Audit Office
President of the Czech Supreme Audit Office (SAO), František Dohnal, invited ambassadors of EU countries and representatives from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic for a meeting that took place in the SAO headquarters on May 3, 2007. The guests were informed about the position of the SAO within the state administration, the international cooperation, and the system of auditing. They were given the 2006 Annual Report too.
Ministry of Defence had an insufficient overview of their property
The audit performed by the Supreme Audit Office (SAO) aimed at the management of state property and state budget funds earmarked for military healthcare. Auditors focused on years 2004 and 2005, including associated data from the previous time and till the end of the audit. The audit targeted on property of the Ministry of Defence with the total amount of CZK 1,7 billion and property of allowance organisations worth CZK 7,9 billion.
Ministerstvo financí zvyšuje riziko neefektivního vynakládání prostředků státního rozpočtu
Cílem další z kontrol Nejvyššího kontrolního úřadu bylo prověřit postupy Ministerstva financí při sestavování rozpočtu a při čerpání vybraných výdajů kapitoly státního rozpočtu Všeobecná pokladní správa. Kontroloři došli k závěru, že MF neplní jako správce této kapitoly některé základní povinnosti.
President of the Czech Supreme Audit Office (SAO) visited by the new Polish ambassador
František Dohnal, president of SAO met the Polish ambassador to the Czech Republic, H. E. Jan Pastwa, on the last Wednesday of April. Jan Pastwa was installed to the position of the ambassador on March 26, 2007.
